Road Closures, No Parking Areas and Two-Hour Free Parking

Event Day Traffic and Parking Changes
The City of Perth Amboy will host the Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting Ceremony on
Saturday, December 6, 2025.
The information below explains temporary road closures and no parking areas in the downtown area that apply only during the event hours.
Road Closures (Event Day Only)

Smith Street between Silzer Street and High Street
Closed to all traffic from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. while the parade is in progress.

High Street from Smith Street to City Hall Circle
Closed to all traffic from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
(Start time may begin as early as 2:00 p.m., depending on event setup.)

City Hall Circle
No vehicles permitted in any direction from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Detours
- Market Street at Rector Street (west) and Kearny Avenue (east)
- High Street at Gordon Street (north) and Smith Street (south)
Expect traffic delays in the downtown area between 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.
due to temporary closures of streets crossing Smith Street along the parade route.
No Parking Areas (Event Day Only)
No parking will be in effect on:

Smith Street between Herbert and Goodwin Street
From 12:00 p.m. (noon) to 5:00 p.m.

Smith Street between Madison Avenue and High Street
From 12:00 p.m. (noon) to 5:00 p.m.

Wilson Street between Smith Street and Market Street
From 12:00 p.m. (noon) to 5:00 p.m.

Silzer Street between Smith Street and Market Street
From 12:00 p.m. (noon) to 5:00 p.m.

Grace Street between Smith Street and Market Street
From 12:00 p.m. (noon) to 5:00 p.m.

High Street between Gordon Street and Smith Street
From 12:00 p.m. (noon) to 7:00 p.m.

Market Street between City Hall Circle and Kearny Avenue
From 12:00 p.m. (noon) to 7:00 p.m.
Signs will be posted. Vehicles parked in restricted areas are subject to towing.
Two-Hour Free Parking Program
The two-hour free parking program is a separate, citywide promotion that is in effect now through January 1, 2026.
Event day restrictions still apply. Free parking does not apply in any area posted as
No Parking or where the street is temporarily closed for the parade and tree lighting.
The City of Perth Amboy is offering two hours of free parking at metered parking,
including all Municipal Parking Lots and the Jefferson Street Parking Garage.
This offer does not apply to monthly permits.
Valid now through January 1, 2026.

- Lot 1 – Downtown Parking Deck, 151 Jefferson Street
- Lot 2 – 266 Hobart Street
- Lot 3 – 331 State Street (between State St. and New Brunswick Ave.)
- Lot 4 – 103 Jefferson Street
- Lot 5 – 196 Jefferson Street (next to the Public Library)
- Lot 6 – 185 Jefferson Street (next to the Post Office)
- Lot 7 – 269 Madison Avenue (between Madison Ave. and McClellan Street)
- Lot 8 – Train Station Lot, 249 Smith Street (between Smith Street and Market Street)

Cambios de Tráfico y Estacionamiento el Día del Evento

Habrá rótulos colocados. Los vehículos estacionados en áreas restringidas estarán sujetos a remolque.
Programa de Estacionamiento Gratis por Dos Horas
El programa de estacionamiento gratis por dos horas es una promoción separada, a nivel de toda la ciudad, que está vigente desde ahora hasta el 1 de enero de 2026.
Las restricciones del día del evento siguen en vigor.
El estacionamiento gratis no aplica en áreas donde se hayan colocado rótulos de
Prohibido Estacionar ni en calles que estén cerradas temporalmente por el desfile y el encendido del árbol.
La Ciudad de Perth Amboy ofrece dos horas de estacionamiento gratis en los parquímetros,
incluidos los Estacionamientos Municipales y el Garaje de Estacionamiento de Jefferson Street.
Esta oferta no aplica a los permisos mensuales.
