Boil Water Advisory Lifted

Status: The Boil Water Advisory for customers served by the Perth Amboy municipal water system has been lifted.

Last Updated: March 5, 2026

Advisory Update

Customers of the Perth Amboy Water Department were notified on March 4, 2026 of a possible issue with the drinking water due to a temporary loss of water pressure.

Repairs have been completed and water quality testing has confirmed that the water meets all safety standards.

The Boil Water Advisory has now been lifted and it is no longer necessary to boil tap water before use.

Recommended Steps for Residents

  • Run your water faucets for 3–5 minutes to flush your service connection and interior plumbing.
  • Empty and clean automatic ice makers and water chillers.
  • Drain and refill hot water heaters if the temperature is set below 113°F.
  • If you use a water softener or cartridge filter, run a regeneration cycle according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Water reservoirs in tall buildings should be drained and refilled if applicable.
