City of Perth Amboy – Resident Notice: Utility Work on Silzer St & Fayette St

Dear Residents,

The City of Perth Amboy is notifying residents of ongoing utility work being performed by Elizabethtown Gas in several areas throughout our community. This construction is part of a regional infrastructure upgrade to replace aging gas pipelines and improve long-term safety and service reliability.

Project Scope and Work Phases

• Main Installation: Spring/Summer 2025, street by street
• Service Line Connections and Gas Meter Relocation: Begins after main installation
• System Testing and Retirement: Once connections are complete
• Final Paving: After a 90-day settlement period (projected Fall 2025)
• Note: Timelines are weather-dependent and subject to change

Streets Affected

The following streets in Perth Amboy are scheduled for work:

• Silzer Street
• Fayette Street
• Wilson Street
• Smith Street
• Reade Street
• Morris Street
• Market Street
• Herbert Street
• Dorsey Street
• Convery Boulevard
• Clement Street
• Cedar Street

Construction Schedule and Access

• Work Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM
• Traffic Impact: Streets may experience partial or full closures during construction
• Parking: Temporary restrictions will be posted in advance
• Access: Emergency vehicle and local resident access will be maintained at all times

Street	Week	Closure Details	Notes
Silzer Street	Week of June 10	Closed from Reade Street to Fayette Street (7:00 AM – 5:00 PM)	Local traffic only. No parking on east side. Residents will be notified in advance.
Wilson Street	Week of June 17	Intermittent lane closures from Market Street to Smith Street	Emergency access will remain open throughout the day.
