Help us finish faster: keep snow out of the street

Citywide Snow Removal Continues

City crews continue snow removal operations across Perth Amboy. Primary roads and designated snow emergency routes are being cleared and widened. Snow emergency regulations remain in effect while roadways are snow-covered.

Please do not push snow into the street.
When snow is thrown back into the roadway, it narrows streets, creates icy hazards, and can block emergency vehicles. It also forces crews to redo streets that were already cleared, which delays service for everyone.

Municipal Operations (Tuesday, February 24)

  • Municipal Offices: Open at 11:00 AM
  • Garbage Collection: No trash collection on Tuesday, February 24. Service resumes on your next regularly scheduled pickup day.

Snow Emergency Status

Vehicles may not be parked on designated snow emergency streets while roads are snow-covered. Vehicles may be ticketed or towed.

Official Document: State of Emergency Proclamation (PDF)

Issued February 23, 2026 (OEM). Includes enforcement and parking directives.

Municipal parking lots and the municipal parking garage remain available (metered spaces only).

Sidewalk & Snow Removal Requirements

Property owners and business owners must clear snow and ice from adjacent sidewalks to maintain safe pedestrian access.

Snow Placement Guidelines (Important)

  • Do not place chairs, cones, or furniture in the street to reserve parking spaces.
  • Do not throw snow back into the roadway after it has been cleared.
  • Place snow on your property or along the curb line without blocking travel lanes, intersections, crosswalks, or hydrants.
Why it matters: Snow piles in the street can prevent fire trucks, ambulances, police and Public Work trucks from getting through, especially on narrow streets where cars are parked on both sides.

Community Programming Update

Due to storm conditions and ongoing cleanup operations, the following City-sponsored events are affected:

  • Business Resource for Success Panel: Canceled. A new date will be announced.
  • Office of Recreation Programs: All programs scheduled this week are canceled. Updated schedules will be shared directly with participants.
  • Black History Art Exhibit: Rescheduled to March 12, 2026.
