PERTH AMBOY CELEBRATES HISTORIC MILESTONE:
Perth Amboy Fire Department Swearing-in Ceremony, including the promotion of the First Female Fire Captain

Perth Amboy, June 28, 2023 - The Perth Amboy Fire Department is pleased to announce its upcoming swearing-in ceremony for seven captains and three firefighters. The event will occur at Perth Amboy Fire Headquarters at 375 New Brunswick Avenue, Perth Amboy. 
This special occasion will welcome new members into the department and mark a historic milestone as the first female and Latina fire captain in the department's history, Arielle Bonilla, will be promoted. 
Bonilla, a seven-year veteran of the Department, has served with distinction since joining in 2016 after completing four years in the US Navy as a Boatswain Mate Third Class Petty Officer on the USS New York. After completing three tours in the Middle East during Operation Enduring Freedom, Bonilla took the firefighter exam upon her return. She has since been actively involved in various Perth Amboy Fire Department divisions, including the Honor Guard, Marine Division, and Dive Team. Bonilla's promotion will see her assigned as Captain on Engine 2 on Battalion 1.  
The Mayor’s Office invites media members to cover the promotional ceremony of the seven newly appointed captains, including the first female captain in Perth Amboy history and the new firefighters as they are officially welcomed into the Perth Amboy Fire Department.
