PERTH AMBOY, NJ — The City of Perth Amboy marked the groundbreaking
of the Gateway Project on July 27, advancing the transformation of a
44-acre former industrial brownfield near the Route 35 Victory Bridge.
The redevelopment will convert a property affected by decades of industrial use and
environmental challenges into a modern commercial, logistics, economic development,
and public recreation destination.
Mayor Helmin J. Caba, the Perth Amboy Redevelopment Agency, members of the City Council,
City officials, community partners, and representatives of KURV Industrial participated
in the ceremony at 555 Market Street.
18.6 Acres Dedicated for Public Benefit
During the ceremony, titled A Foundation for the Future, City and project
representatives signed a land dedication certificate marking the future transfer of
18.6 acres to the City of Perth Amboy for public benefit.

9.2 acres of permanent public open space designated for future
parks, walking trails, recreation, community gathering areas, and environmental
stewardship.

9.4 acres of pad-ready property to support future redevelopment,
economic opportunity, and continued investment in Perth Amboy.
Returning a Challenging Property to Productive Use
“Today marks another important step for the City of Perth Amboy, and there is
something worth recognizing. This is KURV’s third project in the City. When private
business chooses to return and invest again and again, that demonstrates confidence
in where our City is headed, and we welcome that strong vote of confidence.”

Approximately 400 Long-Term Jobs Expected
The Gateway Project is expected to create approximately
400 long-term jobs and generate nearly
$1 million in annual tax revenue for the City of Perth Amboy.
KURV Industrial has previously redeveloped approximately 2.5 million square feet across
two Perth Amboy projects. With the Gateway Project, the company’s development footprint
is expected to grow to approximately 3 million square feet in the City.
“KURV Industrial has invested approximately $50 million over the past decade
directly into Perth Amboy through roadway infrastructure, environmental remediation,
construction of green space, and dedicated land. The new facility will increase
economic activity and create long-term, stable revenues that support local services
and schools.”

The project is part of more than $1 billion in redevelopment advanced under the
