The Perth Amboy Police Department is a full service law enforcement agency with a clearly defined organizational structure. The department is staffed by 145 full time sworn officers, supported by 11 Special Class I officers, 3 Special Class II officers, and 10 volunteer Auxiliary Police Officers. These sworn members are complemented by civilian 911 dispatchers, civilian report takers, and non uniformed support personnel, including the Domestic Violence Response Team, Police Chaplain Corps, and the Community Emergency Response Team. Together, nearly 250 dedicated personnel make up the Perth Amboy Police Department, working every day to provide professional, responsive, and community focused policing.
The department is led by a Police Director and Chief who oversee all operations. In addition to routine patrol and emergency response, the department maintains a comprehensive Investigative Division consisting of the Identification Bureau, Special Investigations Bureau, and Community Services Unit. The Perth Amboy Police Department also operates a centralized 911 Communications Center serving all emergency services within the city. All police operations are based at the Public Safety Complex.
